Top News of the Week - US Signals further Restrictions on the Chinese Defense Industrial Base
Last week, the U.S. Department of Defense released a revised list of Chinese military companies that operate directly or indirectly in the United States. The Defense Department views these companies as important entities in Beijing’s policy of Military-Civil fusion, a Chinese Government effort to gain access to advanced technology denied to the Chinese military through civilian companies.
While the inclusion of a company on the list has no direct consequence, legislation passed in December 2023 imposes new contracting restrictions on entities that do business with the DoD and those companies.
